일반적으로 회로의 전기적 위치에너지(전위)를 의미한다.
Electromotive force, also called emf (denoted and measured in volts),[1] is the voltage developed by any source of electrical energy such as a battery or dynamo. It is generally defined as the electrical potential for a source in a circuit.[2] A device that converts other forms of energy to electrical energy supplies an emf to a circuit.[3]
